About Joy Roskilly Castle Consultants
I use an integrative way of working, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming (EMDR), Person-Centred and Psychodynamic therapy. I also use Guided Affective Imagery (Psychodrama) which can be particularly effective with children. Hypnotherapy may be used when considered appropriate, with your permission. Therapy may be short term and solution focused or longer term according to your needs and wishes.
I realise that deciding to seek help, whether through counselling, hypnotherapy or psychotherapy, is a brave decision to make. It can be quite daunting for any of you who have not been through this process before.
So that you can feel confident in making your choice of therapist I will be happy to chat to you on the phone or email before you proceed further. Please contact me for a free telephone consultation. If I am with a client at the time you ring, please leave your contact details and I will contact you as soon as I can.
We can then discuss your needs and wishes and I can explain how I work, the length of session times and what fees will be.
Counselling provides a safe, confidential and supportive environment where new ways of coping successfully with the challenges of life may be explored. The process can help you come to terms with the past and explore more helpful ways of reacting to difficult issues and situations.
Psychotherapy helps to work through problems at a deeper level, which may require longer term therapy. It can help find inner strength and more successful coping strategies by providing insight into unhelpful behaviour patterns. Psychotherapy enables people to master their psychological problems by helping them to understand the causes through discussion, analysis and teaching. Although it is not an essential part of the process, hypnosis can also be very helpful in speeding-up the progress of psychotherapy.
Part of the purpose of hypnotherapy is to help clients understand their own reactions, so that they may be more in control of their own lives by drawing attention to the importance of their inner feelings, and their body’s own natural healing capability. This demands a high degree of willing and active co-operation on the part of the client, and hypnosis should not be regarded as a ’magic-wand’ treatment by those looking for an easy solution to their problems. Anyone coming for a physical complaint should consult their doctor about it first. Hypnotherapy should not be regarded as an alternative to conventional medicine, but rather as an aid or supplement to it.
